Since we were going to have everything out of their room I suggested we paint while we were at it. So last night about 11pm we finally got everything finished… room painted, and beds put back together. (We had to take them apart to get them through the bedroom door!) This morning I asked J to put up the curtain rod and looking at the curtains I decided they were a bit too long. So I got the sewing machine out to hem it, got the pins out and started pinning along the bottom. I stepped back to make sure it was even and the big bright light came on!! I thought ohhhh look at how that ruffles together! An idea was born. :)

So here is what I did, step by step because I definitely think someone is going to want to try this! :)

1. Lay one of the curtains out on the ground flat, and get your pins.

2. About a foot down the fabric make a 2 inch fold in the fabric and pin in the crease.

3. Continue with a 2 inch fold about every foot down the fabric. With my particular curtain I had 4 folds. Put a pin on each side of the curtain, as well as some in the center of the fold. On my curtains I did a rotation of 5 pins, then 4 pins, 5 pins, then 4 pins – across the crease.

4. Lay the 2nd curtain on top of the 1st and repeat the steps above – trying to keep the folds even.

5. Hang the curtains and make sure they line up well. Move pins around to get desired look – for instance, the middle of the curtain hung down slightly more than I would like. So the middle bottom I ended up putting another pin.

6. If you want a simple look you can just take a needle & thread and sew where you have placed your pins. However – I decided I wanted a little more glam. So I made a couple bows and used fray check to keep the ends from fraying. I then sewed the spots that had pins and placed bows with a couple buttons here and there. Then you are ready to hang!
