Back in January I had a contest to celebrate reaching 500 fans on my facebook page. A friend of mine from church, Tracey Cook was the winner! For her photo session she asked for me to take pictures of her sweet grand daughter Sophia! She is absolutely adorable, and just shines brightly with energy!

I can’t tell you how often I think about the world around me, and the choices I make. Why I do what I do, when I do it, & who I do it for. My brain is typically a whirlwind of thoughts that swirls so fast I’m nearly dizzy!! A lot of what I have been thinking about is what is meaningful to me. Will this choice make a bit of difference when Im 80 years old. Will what I have done with my life today be memorable to me, will I be proud of it?!

Yesterday little buddy man got into a stack of props I had taken pictures of to sell, amazingly enough he found a hat that was just his size. He was walking around with it on for some time when the light hit him just right and I thought – I should take a picture of him. I sat him up on the couch and began playing with him, getting him to giggle and caught a few really cute shots of him. But it wasn’t quite what I was going for, by this time he was more interested in what was on t.v. than his mom with that black thing in front of her face, AGAIN. So I started playing peek a boo with the camera, in which started the cutest thing ever. He started playing peek a boo with me with his hat – I loved it. In the midst of capturing these sweet moments my heart felt fulfilled. I had stopped what I was doing to enjoy something SO simple as playing peek a boo. The smile on my little man’s face just melts my heart. I love it. I love his smile, I love his giggle, and I love him.

Recently I have been thinking about this photographic journey I am on, and the future ahead. Where I want to go, what I want to capture, and how I want to capture it. More ideas about my business have encircled me these past few months than ever. A dear a friend and fellow photographer and I have been talking alot about the future of our business and with her help I have come to so many amazing conclusions. I took a new approach to my photography yesterday, a more photojournalistic approach – and i really have fallen more in love with what I do. I had the amazing opportunity to document play time with little Miss C. It was so relaxed, and just dreamy. I am head over heals in love with the images from yesterday. I captured REAL moments yesterday, moments her parents will cherish forever. And THIS my friends is what photography is all about. Its about the timeless photograph that is created, the tiny moment captured.

Of all the things that I have been blessed with, my children are the absolute biggest blessings I thank God for nearly every minute of the day. I say nearly because I am human and there are those times when I am not as greatful as I should be, normally because Katie has gotten into the febreeze and sprayed Jared down because ” He stinks.” Or possibly because Kylie is pitching a complete fit because Katie touched her? Or even because one of the girls left the bathroom door open and Jared is walking around with the toilet brush waving it in the air like a wand.

But, the day before yesterday, Katie was just sparkling. I just look at her and think GOD I just love this child! Her big beautiful dark eyes, bleach blonde hair with a few curls, her little bitty hands and feet, her amazing smile! I had to get the camera out and just document how beautiful this child is and Thank God for her!!

She’s radiant inside and out. Even right now she’s sitting on the couch with my mom grinning ear to ear watching Mariposa for the gazillionth time.

I know I say it every time, but I really had SO much fun with these two! I played monster with the little guy, which apparently was his favorite game. We just ran around and I snapped and snapped. I really enjoy capturing the essence of childhood. The innocence, the little features they have…. In relaxed, every day situations. I don’t like to be inside, which is why you won’t see very many indoor sessions from me. I strive to capture life, not create it. And these little ones were so full of life that it made my job very easy!

I had a little photo shoot with my kiddos a couple days ago. Like most photographer’s children, my kids have PCS – photographer’s child syndrome. This occurs when a child has a camera in their face too much and….

Cooperate!

So I try to get them seperately! Tickling works

Makind sounds of a WRX’s turbo makes my little guy smile. What can I say, we like fast cars!

And of course Kylie has ran off by this point to go play dress up and refuses to allow me to take her picture. That is until everything is put away.

Just a day in my life as a photographer with children that have PCS.

Last year I had the amazing opportunity to capture Bob & Diane’s wedding.

Through this unity I got to meet Diane’s wonderful daughter! She has two beautiful little girls, full of life & personality! I had such a great time capturing them!

Little miss was not impressed with my camera and found the big purple ball much more amusing!

Her little sister on the other hand was keeping an eye on me, who knew what my next move would be!

Just as I thought we were done outside, she decided to give us a knock out look!

Had to start indoors with a little petti fun!

And where one sister goes, the other must follow!

What more would you need here? GORGEOUS!!
