I believe that I have been blessed with such a wonderful talent. A talent that allows me to see into the lives of others and capture priceless moments that my clients will cherish forever. I LOVE that I am able to do something so amazing and provide for my family at the same time. But the best part of all of this, is having something so amazing to share with the world. Something I can use to help others, in a time of need. When I first heard of the earth quake in Haiti, I began thinking of what I could do. Our church had a list of items that we could send, and I went out and picked up some of those items. And while it felt good to help out, it didn’t quite fully quench the need to help. I started thinking, what more could I do. How else can I help. I thought of offering a day of mini sessions, and then my friend pointed me to another photographer’s blog that had this AMAZING idea to help (Click here to view the origin of this http://www.lifeinmotionphotography.com/photoblog/?p=4199) ! So while this is not *MY* idea, it is my effort. And I pray that you will join me in this effort!

Last week I hoped to bring my fan total on facebook up to 500! Not only did I meet that goal, but surpassed it! We are sitting at 526 fans!! I love each and every one of them too! To celebrate this awesome occasion, I decided to give away a free session and a $100 print credit! To enter the contest I asked my fans to send me an email telling me what they liked most about my work. The emails came in, and I am just SO touched. The things that my fans said about me just brought me to tears!! Sometimes I get so wrapped up in not doing this right, or not doing that right – that I forget how much I do that is right! I am reminded, and humbled by all these amazing emails that I received. And Im thankful that I have such loving & adoring fans.
So without further a’do CONGRATULATIONS!!….

I am so excited to work with you, let me know when you are ready to claim your prize!!
And for everyone else who submitted into the contest, thank you so much again – your words are a priceless treasure to my heart. There will be more contests to come for sure!!

Night before last Justin & I traveled down to Richmond to pick up some bunk beds for the girls. Since we were going to have everything out of their room I suggested we paint while we were at it. So last night about 11pm we finally got everything finished… room painted, and beds put back together. (We had to take them apart to get them through the bedroom door!) This morning I asked J to put up the curtain rod and looking at the curtains I decided they were a bit too long. So I got the sewing machine out to hem it, got the pins out and started pinning along the bottom. I stepped back to make sure it was even and the big bright light came on!! I thought ohhhh look at how that ruffles together! An idea was born.

So here is what I did, step by step because I definitely think someone is going to want to try this!
1. Lay one of the curtains out on the ground flat, and get your pins.

2. About a foot down the fabric make a 2 inch fold in the fabric and pin in the crease.

3. Continue with a 2 inch fold about every foot down the fabric. With my particular curtain I had 4 folds. Put a pin on each side of the curtain, as well as some in the center of the fold. On my curtains I did a rotation of 5 pins, then 4 pins, 5 pins, then 4 pins – across the crease.

4. Lay the 2nd curtain on top of the 1st and repeat the steps above – trying to keep the folds even.

5. Hang the curtains and make sure they line up well. Move pins around to get desired look – for instance, the middle of the curtain hung down slightly more than I would like. So the middle bottom I ended up putting another pin.

6. If you want a simple look you can just take a needle & thread and sew where you have placed your pins. However – I decided I wanted a little more glam. So I made a couple bows and used fray check to keep the ends from fraying. I then sewed the spots that had pins and placed bows with a couple buttons here and there. Then you are ready to hang!

Enjoy!

When Vicki with PER first emailed me about taking pictures of this event I was SO excited!! As I read further she mentioned that it had not been announced to the public – so I had to keep it on the hush hush. Which is so hard for me because when I get excited about something I am overflowing and NEED to tell someone! Luckily for me it wasn’t too terribly long before the day came and I was FINALLY allowed to tell!
The whole band wasn’t able to be there, but we certainly did find ourselves blessed by meeting Jim & Nathan. They were the coolest famous people Ive ever met. So laid back and really open and just awesome! Jim actually likes to do some photography himself – so I found myself chatting it up with him a bit more than actually snapping pictures! Here’s what I saw on my side of the lens!

Lunch was provided by Camilles – *thumbs up*!!

The winners, PER crew, & Jim & Nathan from Mercy Me!

Look here! haha

So many people were taking pictures with their phones – its so funny to me how far technology has come!! I still remember my grandma’s bag phone!!

Goof balls!

Frankie, Nathan, Happy, & Jim!

Autographed copy of their 10 cd… Im sure that will be a giveaway by PER in the near future!

Anddd of course yours truly.
Calvin took some pictures of Jim, Nathan, & I with my point and shoot. These guys were cracking me up!!

I can’t tell you how often I think about the world around me, and the choices I make. Why I do what I do, when I do it, & who I do it for. My brain is typically a whirlwind of thoughts that swirls so fast I’m nearly dizzy!! A lot of what I have been thinking about is what is meaningful to me. Will this choice make a bit of difference when Im 80 years old. Will what I have done with my life today be memorable to me, will I be proud of it?!
Yesterday little buddy man got into a stack of props I had taken pictures of to sell, amazingly enough he found a hat that was just his size. He was walking around with it on for some time when the light hit him just right and I thought – I should take a picture of him. I sat him up on the couch and began playing with him, getting him to giggle and caught a few really cute shots of him. But it wasn’t quite what I was going for, by this time he was more interested in what was on t.v. than his mom with that black thing in front of her face, AGAIN. So I started playing peek a boo with the camera, in which started the cutest thing ever.
He started playing peek a boo with me with his hat – I loved it. In the midst of capturing these sweet moments my heart felt fulfilled. I had stopped what I was doing to enjoy something SO simple as playing peek a boo. The smile on my little man’s face just melts my heart. I love it. I love his smile, I love his giggle, and I love him.

When I made the decision to try a different approach to my photography, I had no idea what would be in store for me. I had been thinking alot about photography, and what it could and should mean to my clients. Of course a cute baby wrapped up in one of my knitted props is super cute. But imagine how much more meaningful a baby wrapped up in a blanket knitted by grandma could be. Or wearing mommy’s booties from when she was a baby. I am on a mission to put more meaning into my images. To capture the life of this tiny person, their tiny features, and everything that is meaningful to their family.
Please meet little miss Adeline.

Adeline & her grandma!

And big bro, the Caedster!

A few of big bro alone, he’s SO handsome!

Mommy, grandma, & Miss Adeline – 3 generations in one photo!

Revisiting the collage of her room because I love it SO much!

About a month ago I started to write a devotional – with all the holiday events going on I got off track and did not end up posting it. In an effort to get back on track I’m posting this, it’s short – but sweet.
Back in Decemeber on a Monday night, I gathered with some friends to conclude our journey through the book of Esther. We reflected on what was gained from the study and how God’s plan is just so perfect. It is amazing how we can all be at different crossroads in our lives and find Jesus together.
For me personally, those 10 weeks were full of excitement, change, and loss. All of which I was able to share with my sisters. The time and events we shared together enabled us to form a bond that I will never forget. I cannot imagine that God would not want this for all of his children. For everyone to be studying his word in the company of others. In fact, I know aside from his children being saved, there is not anything more delightful to our Lord than when we seek him wholeheartedly, especially together. It is a feeling that is hard to match when you are studying the word of God in the company of others. Not only to have reached new heights in your own spiritual journey, but also to be blessed to see God do work in the lives of others.
I pray that this inspires you to get involved, go seek your Lord & Savior in the company of others and be blessed.

I am just head over heals in love with this session. Everything about her is just so sweet. Her mom is a talented decorator, I just fell in love with her room!
More of her session to come!

A few months back a friend of mine linked me to this e-course called unravelling. http://www.susannahconway.com/unravelling I have been feeling a little less creative these days, and not so much happy with my self image. So I decided what a perfect way to really get in touch with my creative side, and more importantly get in touch with what is beautiful about me. Not just my body, but what I do – where I go and why I do it it. I am so very excited about this course!
Here are my shots for the first photo assignment, my feet.

Reflecting on these images, I am provoked with so much emotion. If there is anything in this world that I absolutely adore, it is cuddle time. I just love being a bump on a log on the couch. When I am snuggling alone with a soft blanket, but even more so with the one I love. I think because I have such high arches it makes a perfect fit to just snuggle my feet up with his. A perfect fit for snuggling you might say.
